CARSON, Calif. -- Corrie Hirokawa's second goal of the game at the 78:40 mark helped Cal State Dominguez Hills overcome an early Maverick lead and post a 2-1 non-conference win over UNO in the season-opener for both teams Friday night.
Amanda Iwansky put No. 6 ranked UNO on top just 2:02 into the game. Dominguez Hills tied the game when Hirokawa scored on a corner kick at 27:23.
Hirokawa converted a pass from Monique Castro to score the game-winner.
UNO outshot Dominguez Hills 16-10 for the match.
UNO will resume action Sunday night, visiting UC San Diego at 9 p.m. CDT.
