PUEBLO, Colo. - The UNO men's basketball team earned another convincing road win on Saturday, beating Colorado State University-Pueblo 83-66 in the Al Kaly Shrine Classic hosted by CSU-P. #Mitch Albers# led the Mavericks with 21 points as UNO improved to 4-0 on the season. The Mavs earned a win over Western State in the opening round of the tournament on Friday.
The two teams played a very tight first half with UNO leading 37-36 at the break. The Mavericks poured it on in the second half against a CSU-P team that was playing just its second game of the season. #Michael Jenkins# had 20 points for the Mavs on 6-of-9 shooting. He was named the tournament's MVP. Albers was named to the All-Tournament team.
#Matt Akins# added 10 points for the Mavs while #Andrew Bridger# had nine points and a game-high 7 assists. #Dion Curry# chipped in nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Imari Thomas led the Thunderwolves with 14 points while Rome Smith had 12.
The Mavericks finish the week having played three road games. They beat Nebraska-Kearney 89-68 on Monday in Kearney, Neb. UNO returns to action with another road game when it opens MIAA play on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Washburn.
