OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO men's basketball team picked up a 101-58 win over NAIA opponent York College on Tuesday night at Sapp Fieldhouse. Junior #Dion Curry led the Mavericks with 19 points while Tyler Albers# added 17.
OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO men's basketball team picked up a 101-58 win over NAIA opponent York College on Tuesday night at Sapp Fieldhouse. Junior #Dion Curry led the Mavericks with 19 points while Tyler Albers# added 17.
The Mavericks got off to a hot start, earning an 11-0 lead in the first 2:16 of the game. UNO pushed its lead to 20-4 before the Panthers went on a run to close the gap to 9 points thanks to a pair of 3-pointers from Wendell Moore.
The Mavericks responded with 7 straight points from #Mitch Albers# to balloon their lead to 16. They led 48-26 at the half. Curry had 13 of his points in the first stanza.
Tyler Albers took center stage in the second half, scoring all but one of his points. They included back-to-back 3-pointers as the Mavericks wore down the Panthers late. Mitch Albers added 14 while #Matt Akins# had 10. #Aaron Terry led the Mavs with 10 rebounds while Andrew Bridger# had 5 assists.
Wendell Moore led York with 15 while Justin Ward had 12.
The Mavericks improved to 6-1 on the season. They return to action on Saturday, Dec. 13 when they resume MIAA play against Northwest Missouri State at Sapp Fieldhouse. Game time is 6 p.m.
