Mavericks Picked Third in MIAA Preseason Men's Bas

OMAHA, Neb. – The defending MIAA champion UNO men's basketball team was picked to finish third by the league's coaches and media in the preseason polls announced by the MIAA office on Wednesday.
The Mavericks, who went 22-9 (12-8 MIAA) last year, earned 102 points from the coaches poll and 157 in the media list, as well as two first-place votes in each poll.
The 12 conference coaches selected Fort Hays State as their preseason favorite and Central Missouri at No. 2, while media voters picked UCM first, followed by FHSU.
UNO will play its third year as a member of the MIAA in 2010-11, and senior preseason All-America honorable mention Tyler Bullock leads the returners from last year's championship squad. Head coach Derrin Hansen begins his sixth year at the helm of the Maverick program with a career record of 91-59
Nebraska-Omaha opens the season with an exhibition at Michigan State on Monday, Nov. 8, followed by its first regular-season contest against Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, Nov. 13 at Sapp Fieldhouse.
