MARYVILLE, Mo. – UNO's #Ricca Soper# shot an even-par 72 to lead the Maverick golf team to a win at the Bearcat Fall Classic hosted by Northwest Missouri State. The win was the second in a week for the Mavs who won their own tournament on Tuesday.
The Mavericks finished with a team score of 642, 25 shots clear of second-place Missouri Western, the team with which they had been tied after day one. Host Northwest Missouri State was third at 675.
Soper had four birdies and four bogeys on her way to earning individual medalist honors. She also had the low round of the day and finished with a total score of 151.
#Melyssa Doerr# fired a career-best round of 77 on Friday to finish second for UNO and overall at 159. #Elizabeth Havekost# matched her first round score of 83 on Friday to finish third for UNO and seventh overall at 166. Brooke Thilges was one stroke behind, finishing fourth for UNO at 167. #Christina VonRiesen# finished fifth for the Mavs with a two-day score of 173.
The Mavericks have one more tournament in the fall season. They'll venture south to the Oklahoma Intercollegiate hosted by Cameron University on Oct. 25 and 26.
