OMAHA, Neb. - Despite winning two out of the three doubles matches, the UNO women's tennis team was narrowly edged out by Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Asssociation rival Northwest Missouri State, 5-4. The Tuesday evening defeat drops the Mavericks to 7-7 overall and 3-4 in the MIAA. The Bearcats improve to 14-6 overall and remain perfect in the conference at 6-0.

Things looked promising for the Mavs as #Samantha Thomas and Heather Hottman# bounced back after a No. 1 doubles loss and beat Lindsay Weideman and Emily Hoffman in No. 2 doubles, 8-2. Then, sophomore #Mary Lausten continued her fantastic run of good form as she paired with Kelsie Olson# once again to defeat the Bearcat pairing in No. 3 doubles, 8-6.

#Traci Moklestad# lost a close battle with Lisa Pendrak of Northwest Missouri State in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 4-6 (7-6). The Mavs earned a victory in No. 5 singles as #Kelsey Haas# picked up her 10th overall singles victory when she defeated Brittney Browning, 6-2, 2-6 (6-1). It was #Mary Lausten#'s night once again as she won in No. 6 singles over Emily Hoffman, 6-4, 6-3. The victory is Lausten's 13th overall for the season, improving her overall singles record to an impressive 13-5. #Mary Lausten#, native of Omaha, Neb., is now 7-2 in her last 10 matches.

UNO gets set to enter the MIAA postseason tournament this weekend as they will travel to Kansas City, Mo. where they will meet their opponent Saturday, April 24 at 9:30 a.m.
