LAKE ELMO, Minn. - The UNO golf team posted the best second-round score out of 11 teams to take second place at the Wildwood Lodge Invitational hosted by Concordia University. #Armana Christianson# led the way for the Mavs, earning third-place medalist honors.
The Mavericks carded 311 on Monday to finish with a two-day score of 631. They finished 17 strokes behind winner Augustana which won the tournament with a score of 614. Minnesota State was third at 644. UNO has won twice and finished as the runner-up in its first three tournaments of the fall season.
Christianson finished in a second-place tie overall with a score of 153. She lost the tie-breaker to Augustana's Maggie Leland who was three strokes better in today's final round. Christianson fired a 78 while Leland had a three-over-par 75.
#Ricca Soper and Dani Suponchick# tied for second in scoring for the Mavericks. Each had a two-round score of 158, good for a tie for seventh overall. Soper fired a 79 today while Suponchick had a 76, UNO's low round of the day.
#Rebecca Pollock# was fourth for UNO with a total score of 162. She shot 78 today. #Elizabeth Havekost#, playing as an individual, posted a score of 168 for the tournament, one stroke ahead of teammate #Amy Powell# who shot 169.
The Mavericks return to action on Monday, Oct. 4 when they host their only home tournament of the year, the UNO Fall Classic at The Pines Country Club in Valley.
