EMPORIA, Kan. - The No. 22-ranked UNO softball team swept Northeastern State on Friday, 8-0, 4-0, at the Trusler Sports Complex. The Mavericks improved to 12-4 on the year with the wins.
#Beth Haley# (4-3) pitched a three-hit shutout in Game 1, which ended in the fifth inning with the Mavs leading 8-0. Haley struck out five batters and didn't walk any.
#Amber Lutmer# went 2-2 with her team-leading sixth home run of the season, a two-run blast that gave UNO an 8-0 lead in the third inning. The Mavs had put five on the board in the second inning to take control of the first game.
In Game 2, #Dana Elsasser# improved to 5-1 on the year with a complete-game two-hit shutout. Elsasser struck out two and walked one in picking up her third shutout in six appearances.
#Lindsey Slocum# hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to put UNO up 3-0.
UNO faces Missouri-St. Louis in a doubleheader on Saturday at Noon.
