UNO makes a road trip to the Great Northwest this weekend to face a pair of Great Northwest Conference opponents. On Thursday, the Mavs battle Saint Martin's at Olympia, Wash. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (CT). Then on Saturday, UNO travels 60 miles north to play Seattle Pacific, which was ranked 10th in Division II until its loss to then-No. 2 UC San Diego last weekend. The Mavs and Falcons kick off at 9 p.m. (CT). The last time UNO met Seattle Pacific, it was in the 2005 Division II national championship game, which UNO won, 2-1. Live stats will be available for the Seattle Pacific match, but not for the Saint Martin's match on Thursday.

Saint Martin's is 0-2 after a 2-0 loss at Cal State Los Angeles and a 1-0 loss at Point Loma University. The Saints went 8-10 last year and finished fifth in the Great Northwest Conference with a 7-7 record. Thursday's match will be the first ever between the two schools.

Seattle Pacific is 1-1 entering the weekend. The Falcons beat Chico State 2-1 in their season opener, then lost 2-0 to No. 2 UC San Diego last weekend. Andrea Chan has a goal and an assist to lead the Falcons. The Falcons are a prominent Division II power, having won the 2008 Division II national championship with a 22-1-2 record and averaging just two losses per year over the past eight seasons. Seattle Pacific has won five Great Northwest Conference championships and also reached the NCAA championship game in 2005 before falling to Nebraska Omaha, 2-1. This will be the first meeting since the 2005 showdown.
The Coaches
Don Klosterman is in his 13th year as the head coach of the UNO Mavericks. The only head coach in the program's history, Klosterman has a 195-53-11 record, just five wins from number 200 in his career at UNO. The two-time national coach of the year has led the Mavericks to the Division II national semifinal four times, culminating in the 2005 NCAA Division II national championship. Under Klosterman, the Mavericks are 19-7 all-time in NCAA Division II tournament play and have won six conference titles. Klosterman formerly served as the head men's soccer coach at Benedictine College (1979-83) and Creighton (1984-86). He graduated from Benedictine in 1974.
Rob Walker is 28-47-3 in his fifth season as the head coach at Saint Martin's. Walker led the Saints to an 8-10 record in 2010 and a 5th-place finish in the Great Northwest Conference. Walker is a 1983 graduate of Saint Martin's.
Chuck Sekyra is in his ninth season at Seattle Pacific and has an astounding 151-17-14 record. Under Sekyra, the Falcons have averaged just two losses per season in the past eight years. Sekyra is a 1989 graduate of Seattle Pacific.
Last Time Out
The UNO women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Midwestern State on Sunday in the final game of the UNO Invitational at the UNO Soccer Field.
Neither team could crack the scoreboard after 90 minutes or the two 10-minute overtime periods. The result left the Mavs 2-1-1 on the year. Midwestern State concluded the tournament with a 1-0-1 record.
Katelyn Tschida earned her second straight shutout for the Mavs. Tschida made two saves for UNO. Mallory Whitworth made three saves to record the shutout for the Mustangs.
The Mavs outshot the Mustangs 11-10 overall and 3-2 in shots on goal. UNO produced a good scoring chance going against the wind in the second half, but Amber Bilodeau's lofted shot from outside the penalty area hit the crossbar and bounced away.
In the second overtime period, the Mavs dominated with the wind at their backs, and they nearly won the game when Katie Pickinpaugh took a shot from the left side of the box, but the ball rolled harmlessly across the six-yard box, just passing right of the far post.
The Mavs' backline of Kerry Pivovar, Hayley Renshaw, Jordyn Braun and Logen Watts was stellar in keeping the Mustangs out of threatening areas all day.

UNO plays at North Dakota on Sept. 16 at 4 p.m., then at North Dakota State on Sept. 18 at Noon.
