ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Omaha women's soccer team (4-7-5, 3-3-2) took down St. Thomas by a score of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Like the first matchup of the season, Kate Lucas was the hero, notching her second goal of the season on a corner kick in the 39th minute. Lucas also scored the game-winning goal in the first matchup between the Mavs and Tommies on Sept. 24. After the corner kick ricocheted around in the box, Lucas gathered herself and got a shot off that deflected off a defender and the post before finding the back of the net.
The Mavericks' defense stayed strong once again, and Cadence Fagan made a terrific diving save in the 84th minute to keep the Tommies scoreless and secure Omaha's seventh clean sheet of the season.
Omaha will be back in action Thursday against Oral Roberts. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Caniglia Field.
