OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO women's tennis team swept through its match on Saturday, defeating in-state opponent Hastings 7-0 at Koch Family Tennis Center. With the win, the Mavericks improve to 3-9 on the year.
UNO took the doubles point, as freshmen Alex Tran and Rachel Pierson opened with an 8-2 win at No. 1. Senior Heather Hottman and junior Lindsay Weideman took the No. 2 spot with an 8-4 victory, and junior Amanda Henkel and senior Diana Dobey won 8-1 at No. 3.
The Mavericks swept all six singles matches in straight sets, highlighted by Weideman over Ellie Clinch at No. 1 by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Pierson also defeated Alexis Parade by an identical 6-0, 6-0 to cap UNO's outstanding day.
Nebraska Omaha returns to action on Tuesday, April 3, traveling to Vermillion, S.D. for a pair of matches. The Mavericks will face Sioux Falls at Noon, followed by a 3 p.m. match against future Summit League foe South Dakota.
