Mavs Earn 2-1 Win Over South Dakota in Exhibition

OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO women's soccer team earned a 2-1 win over South Dakota in an exhibition Saturday afternoon at the UNO Soccer Field.
South Dakota struck first at the 18:06 mark when Teagan Eberle played a ball behind the defense that Jenny Teslow ran on to and finished from close range inside the left post past UNO goalkeeper Sarah Warren.
The Mavericks tied the game 1-1 in the 28th minute when Anna Sibson played a long ball up the left side to Katlyn Nimtz, who settled the ball and finished from the edge of the penalty area.
Less than three minutes later, UNO took a 2-1 lead after Monica Bosiljevac took a long pass from Jordyn Braun and chested it around the keeper and walked it into the net. The Mavs took the 2-1 lead into the halftime break.
After Warren finished the half with three saves, Meaghan Clark came in to play goalie in the second half for UNO and made a big stop on a breakaway by Teslow at the 25:39 mark. The Mavericks controlled possession for most of the second half, which saw few scoring chances for either team.
UNO opens the regular season next Friday against Iowa State at 5:30 p.m. at the UNO Soccer Field.
