Mavs Begin Homestand with Oral Roberts

The UNO women's soccer team will play three straight games at the UNO Soccer Field, beginning with Oral Roberts on Friday at 4 p.m. The Mavericks are in search of their first win of the season. UNO is coming off a 2-1 loss last Sunday in Boise, Idaho against Portland State. Oral Roberts, previously a member of The Summit League, enters with a 4-3-2 record as a new member of the Southland Conference. The Golden Eagles are unbeaten in their last three games, including a 1-0 win at Oklahoma and a 4-0 win vs. Mississippi Valley State. Live stats for the match will be available at OMavs.com.

Clark Makes Her Mark
Freshman goalkeeper Meaghan Clark has made an immediate impact for the Mavericks in her first year in the program. The Boise, Idaho native has recorded 57 saves so far, which ranks tied for first in The Summit League and tied for 12th nationally.
Back-to-Back-to-Back Dani
Forward Danielle Archuleta scored a goal in three straight games from Aug. 31-Sept. 7. Her goal against Creighton on Sept. 7 made her the first Maverick to score in three straight games since Nicole Baier scored seven goals in a three-game span from Oct. 18-24 in 2009.
Searching for 200
Don Klosterman will take aim at a coaching milestone when he leads UNO into its 14th season in 2012. The only head coach the University of Nebraska Omaha has had, Klosterman has a 198-68-12 record, just two wins from win number 200 in his outstanding career at UNO. The two-time Division II National Coach of the Year has led the Mavericks to the national semifinals four times, culminating in the 2005 NCAA Division II National Championship. Assistant coach Ted Anderson is in his 14th season at UNO and has been with Klosterman every step of the way.
Welcome to The Summit League
The 2012 season marks UNO's first with a full Summit League schedule. UNO will play all eight Summit League foes once, starting with a Sept. 28 game at home against Fort Wayne. Although the Mavericks will appear in the Summit League standings, UNO cannot qualify for the Summit League Championship or the NCAA Tournament until 2015-16.

Last Time Out
BOISE, Idaho - A 77th minute goal was the difference in a 2-1 win for Portland State over the UNO women's soccer team in the Mavs' final game at the Soccer Etc./Nike Classic last Sunday afternoon. Portland State (2-5-1) claimed a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute when Daniela Solis scored off an assist from Megan Martin. Martin played in a cross from the left side, and Solis finished from seven yards. The Mavericks (0-9) battled back to tie the game when Melanie McCormick scored her first goal of the season after an assist from Katlyn Nimtz at 56:34. Nimtz's initial shot was saved by the Vikings' goalkeeper, but McCormick jumped on the rebound and scored from eight yards out. Nimtz was playing her second game since missing four games with an injury. Just as it looked like the Mavs might take an opponent to overtime for the first time this season, Martin scored from 10 yards out on the left side of the box at 76:14 off of an assist from Melissa Bishop. The Mavs fought hard to tie the game late with two late shots, but Kerry Pivovar's attempt at 88:49 went wide left, and Layla Ashouri sent a free kick at 88:53 over the crossbar. Portland State finished with a 22-9 edge in shots and an 11-6 advantage in shots on goal. Meaghan Clark made nine saves for UNO. Hannah Wampler had two shots on goal.

Kayla Keller has three goals and one assist, while Megan Giles and Ashley Martin each have two goals and three assists. The Golden Eagles are coached by Ryan Bush, who is in his fifth year at the school with a 34-40-6 record.
