Mavs Fall at Long Beach State, 77-61

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Omaha women's basketball team dropped a 77-61 game at Long Beach State on Sunday in the final game of its California road trip.
The Mavericks are now 3-4 on the season with all four losses coming on the road. The 49ers improved to 4-2.
Ericka House had career highs of 25 points and six rebounds to lead the Mavericks. She was 8-of-21 from the floor and 4-of-12 from 3-point range, and she also went 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Felicia Anderson also finished in double figures with 13 points. Lanese Bough and Mikaela Shaw each had eight points. Four 49ers scored in double figures, led by Ella Clark's 19 points.
The game got off to a slow start offensively, as the teams were tied 7-7 at the 13:26 mark of the first half. House scored the first seven points for UNO. But from there, the 49ers outscored UNO 36-18 the rest of the half to take a 43-25 lead at halftime. LBSU quickly went on a 9-2 run to take a 16-9 lead at the 9:54 mark and didn't look back.
The Mavs trailed by as many as 25 early in the second half but didn't fold. Trailing 69-47 with 6:30 to play, UNO reeled off 10 straight points courtesy of back-to-back 3-pointers by Anderson and jumpers by House and Shaw. That cut the deficit to 69-57 with 4:07 left and gave the Mavs some life. But after a Long Beach State timeout, the Mavs could get no closer than 12 the rest of the way. The Mavs did outscore the 49ers in the final 20 minutes, 36-34.
Omaha shot 31.9 percent (22-of-69), while LBSU hit 39.1 percent (27-of-69) from the floor. The Mavs battled foul trouble throughout the game. Taijhe Kelly fouled out in just 14 minutes on the court, while Madi Robson picked up four fouls in 19 minutes. House, Sami Pawlak and Victoria Trowbridge each had three fouls.
UNO is back on the road next weekend to visit Northern Colorado on Saturday in Greeley, Colo.
