OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior center John Karhoff was named Summit League Player of the Week for his performance Dec. 23-29, the conference office announced Monday. The weekly award was the first of his career.
Karhoff, a product of Creighton Prep, scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed a season-best seven rebounds in Omaha's 104-88 victory at Central Arkansas on Saturday. He shot 10-of-13 (76.9 percent) from the field and converted all eight free throw attempts in the contest. Karhoff added three assists and pulled down three offensive boards in 29 minutes of playing time.
Karhoff joins junior guard CJ Carter as the only two Mavericks to earn Summit League Player of the Week accolades, as Carter earned the award earlier this season on Nov. 11.
Omaha returns to action on Friday, Jan. 3, traveling to Hawaii. Tipoff is set for 11 p.m. (CT) at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, and the game will be broadcast live on KZOT 1180 AM. Links to live stats, audio and video will be available on OMavs.com.
