CHARLESTON, S.C. - The UNO men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 defeat at the hands of College of Charleston on Wednesday.
The loss dropped the Mavericks to 3-5 on the season. UNO is in the midst of three matches in four days at Spring Break Tennis at Hilton Head Island and used its break in the schedule to travel two hours north to Charleston to play the Cougars (7-6).
College of Charleston won all three doubles matches for the doubles point and swept the singles matches in straight sets. For the second day in a row, John Ellis was the most competitive Maverick at No. 3 singles. Ellis lost the first set, 6-2, to Charlie Ghriskey, but forced a tiebreaker before eventually falling in the second set, 7-6.
The Mavericks are back in Hilton Head Island on Thursday to play The Citadel at 2 p.m. (Central).
