Mavs Fall to The Citadel, 6-1

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The UNO men's tennis team fell to The Citadel on Thursday, 6-1, at Spring Break Tennis at Hilton Head Island. The Mavs are now 3-6 on the season. The Citadel improved to 6-9.
UNO concludes play at the tournament on Friday against Kutztown (Pa.) at 2 p.m. (Central).
Freshman John Ellis picked up the lone point for the Mavs with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles over Dillon Berkabile. The Citadel won the three doubles matches, however, and took the other five singles matches for the win.
David Orces beat Conner Tieszen at No. 1, 7-5, 6-3. Peter Bleach beat Connor Larson at No. 3, 6-4, 6-0. Oliver Dedding defeated Matt Frost at No. 4, 6-1, 6-7 (3), 10-4. Elliott Sperr earned a 6-0, 6-4 win over Carlos Ramos Salazar at No. 5 singles, and JC Pauli beat Erik Anderson at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
