Four Mavs Named All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Four members of the Omaha women's golf team were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association's All-American Scholars list this month.
Senior Elizabeth Havekost, junior captain Brooke Thilges, sophomore Sophie Peters and freshman Katie Kesti all made the list of 644 women golfers from Division I, II and III. Both Havekost and Thilges are repeat honorees.
To make the list, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50, one of the most stringent in college athletics.
Havekost was UNO's top scorer in 2012-13 with a stroke average of 82.1. She finished her UNO career with a stroke average of 84.4 in 62 rounds.
Peters was UNO's second-leading scorer with an average of 82.5. She led the Mavs with three top-10 finishes and shot eight of the team's top 10 18-hole rounds last season.
Thilges was third for UNO in scoring with an average of 83.0. A three-year letter winner, she has a career stroke average of 84.
Kesti played in 18 rounds during her rookie season, posting a scoring average of 83.2 to rank fourth on the team. She also had one top five finish.
The Mavericks begin the 2013-14 season at the Chip-N-Club Invitational at Nebraska on Sept. 9-10.
