Mavs Finish First Weekend With 7-0 Loss at Iowa

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis team remains in search of its first win, having dropped its third straight match on Saturday morning, 7-0 at Iowa. UNO is now 0-3 (0-0 Summit League), while the Hawkeyes improve to 1-0 (0-0 Big Ten).
The Mavericks again faced an early deficit, as they surrendered all three doubles matches. At the No. 1 position, senior Alex Tran and freshman Hylan Miller teamed up but lost 6-1 to the duo of Ruth Seaborne and Morven McCulloch. At No. 2 doubles, sophomores Tiffany Hottman and Molly Matricardi lost 6-1, while the duo of Jacqueline Baude and Kenzie Hill fell 6-2.
UNO then moved to singles play, and senior Lindsay Weideman was the only player who mustered a win with games in both sets of her match, but she dropped her match at No. 5, 6-3, 6-3. At the No. 4 slot, Hill battled hard in the second set but lost the match 6-0, 6-3.
Omaha returns home on Friday, Jan. 31 to host in-state foe Nebraska Wesleyan. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. start in Omaha at Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center.
