Omaha to Host Mastodons, Golden Eagles

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha women's soccer team wraps up its 2014 home slate with a pair of Summit League games this weekend. On Friday, Oct. 24, the Mavericks host Fort Wayne at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 26, UNO welcome Oral Roberts to Caniglia Field for a 12:00 p.m. start. Prior to the game on Sunday, Omaha will honor seniors Ali Engler and Anna Sibson.
The Teams
Omaha (4-9-2, 2-0-2 Summit League) knocked off South Dakota State 2-0 on Sunday, Oct. 19 at home. Anna Sibson and Natalie Johnson scored goals for the Mavericks. Goalkeeper Haley Shelton had her second career shut-out.
Fort Wayne (2-11-2, 0-3-2 Summit League) went 0-1-1 over the weekend in conference play. The Mastodons tied Western Illinois on Friday, 0-0. Fort Wayne lost a 1-0 match to conference leaders North Dakota State on Sunday. The Mastodons outshot the Bison 18-11, but could not score.
Oral Roberts (2-7-3, 1-2 Summit League) went 1-1 last week. They dropped a 3-0 match to in town rival Tulsa on Wednesday. Sunday, Oral Roberts defeated Summit League foe IUPUI 2-1. Ashley Martin scored two goals in a 31 second span to lead ORU.
Series History
Omaha and Fort Wayne will be meeting for the third time in the series. The two schools have split the previous two meetings. Omaha lost to IPFW 1-0 last season in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The meeting between Omaha and Oral Roberts will be the second in the series between the two schools. Oral Roberts defeated Omaha 2-0 in Omaha.
Scouting the Mavericks
Omaha knocked off Summit League leaders South Dakota State 2-0 last Sunday in Omaha. The Mavericks remain the loan unbeaten team in the Summit League with a 2-0-2 mark.
Offensively, Omaha is led by Chelsi Rohloff. The junior has scored nine goals and dished out three assists for 21 points on the season. Rohloff has started 14 of 15 matches this year and has netted two game winning goals. She has been named Summit League Player of the week on October 6th for her two goal performance against Denver. Currently, Rohloff leads the Summit League with nine goals. She also ranks second in the league in points scored with 20.
Midfielder Anna Sibon and defender Hannah Wampler are tied for second on the team with three goals scored. Sibson has added three assists. Kyla Booker, Lydia Holtmann and Courtney Neville are tied with Rohloff and Sibson for the team lead in assists (3). Holtmann and Neville each have a goal and three assists for a total of five points. Booker has a goal and three assists this season for five points. Layla Ashouri, Ali Engler, and Natalie Johnson each have goals this season. Marin Dregelid, Nyoke Dumba, Lauren Lawler each have one assist on the year.
Haley Shelton has started 12 games in goal this season for Omaha. She has an overall record of 3-7-2 and a 1.63 goals against average. She has made 67 saves on the year and holds a .761 save percentage. Shelton ranks third in the Summit League with 60 saves. Katlyn Schochenmaier has played in three games with two starts for the Mavs. She has a 1-1 overall record with a 1.91 goals against average. Schochenmaier has made 15 saves and a .750 save percentage. Meaghan Clark has started one game this year and is 0-1 on the season. She has a 2.64 goals against average and a .667 save percentage.
Scouting the Mastodons
Fort Wayne has been outscored this season by a 33-13 mark. The Mastodons have five players with two goals. Kallianne Mogler leads the team in points with eight. Mogler has two goals and four assists. Mayson Whitman has two goals and two assits for six points.
Goalkeeper Sam Pavilka is 2-11-2 on the season with a .757 save percentage and a 2.38 goals against average. She leads the conference with 103 saves on the season. Kiler Dunning has appeared in three games and has made six saves.
Scouting the Golden Eagles
Oral Roberts has been outscored this year by a 22-8 mark. Ashley martin is the leading goal scorer for the Golden Eagles with two goals. There are six other players on the team with one goal. Madison Valenzuela has a goal and a team high three assists for five points. Megan Giles has added two assists.
Helen Erb and Maddie Rhodes have split time in goal this season for Oral Roberts. Erb is second in the Summit League with a .810 save percentage and has allowed only eight goals this season. Erb on the season has a 2-3-1 record with a 1.33 goals against average. Rhodes is 0-4-2 on the year with a 2.09 goals against average.

Omaha will close out the 2014 schedule by playing Western Illinois and IUPUI on the road. The Mavericks will travel to Macomb, Ill. to play Western Illinois on Friday, Oct. 31. Kick-off is set for 3:00 p.m. UNO will end their season in Indianapolis, Ind. against IUPUI on Sunday, November 2. Kick-off is set for 11:00 a.m. (CT) at Carroll Stadium.
