Omaha Squares-Off Against Leathernecks and Jaguars

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha women's soccer team wraps up its 2014 schedule with a pair of road Summit League games this weekend. On Friday, Oct. 31, the Mavericks play in Macomb, Ill. against Western Illinois at 3:00 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 2, UNO travels to Indianapolis, Ind. to play IUPUI at 12:00 p.m.
The Teams
Omaha (5-10-2, 3-1-2 Summit League) split a pair of Summit League games over the weekend. On Friday, Omaha defeated Fort Wayne 1-0. Oral Roberts defeated Omaha 2-1 in double overtime on Sunday.
Western Illinois (3-12-1, 2-3-1 Summit League) went 1-1 last weekend. Western Illinois defeated Oral Roberts 3-2 on Friday, before losing 2-1 to IUPUI on Sunday.
IUPUI (5-9-3, 3-3 Summit League) went 1-1 last week. On Friday, IUPUI lost a 2-1 decision to Oral Roberts, before defeating Western Illinois 2-1 on Sunday.
Series History
Omaha and Western Illinois will be meeting for the fourth time. Western Illinois owns a 2-1 record against Omaha. WIU have won the past two meetings with Omaha. Last time out, the Fighting Leathernecks defeated the Mavs 3-0 in Omaha.
Omaha and IUPUI will be meeting for the third time this weekend. IUPUI owns a 2-0 series lead over Omaha. Last year, the Jaguars defeated the Mavs 1-0 in Omaha.
Scouting the Mavericks
Omaha is 5-10-2 overall and own a 3-1-2 mark in Summit League action. The Mavs are 4-2-1 at home, while holding a 0-1 mark at neutral sites and are 1-7-1 in road games.
Offensively, Omaha is led by Chelsi Rohloff. The junior has scored ten goals and dished out four assists for 24 points on the season. Rohloff has started 16 of 17 matches this year and has netted two game winning goals. She has been named Summit League Player of the week on October 6th for her two goal performance against Denver. Currently, Rohloff leads the Summit League with ten goals and 24 points. She also ranks fourth in the league in assists scored with four.
Senior midfielder Anna Sibson is second on the team in goals (4), assists (3), and points (11). Defender Hannah Wampler has three goals and six points on the season. Kyla Booker, Lydia Holtmann, and Courtney Neville each have a goal and three assists. Layla Ashouri, Ali Engler, and Natalie Johnson each have one goal. Marin Dregelid, Nyoke Dumba, and Lauren Lawer each have one assist.
Haley Shelton has started 14 games in goal this season for Omaha. She has an overall record of 4-8-2 and a 1.53 goals against average. She has made 82 saves on the year and holds a .781 save percentage. Shelton ranks third in the Summit League with 82 saves. Katlyn Schochenmaier has played in three games with two starts for the Mavs. She has a 1-1 overall record with a 1.91 goals against average. Schochenmaier has made 15 saves and a .750 save percentage. Meaghan Clark has started one game this year and is 0-1 on the season. She has a 2.64 goals against average and a .667 save percentage.
Scouting the Leathernecks
Western Illinois have a 3-12-1 overall record and a 2-3-1 record in the Summit League. WIU have scored 11 goals this year and have given up 34 goals.
Sarah Hall leads WIU with four goals and eight points. Sarah Wright has added two goals and four points. The Leathernecks have five different players with one goal each.
Victoria Kappel has started 15 of the teams 16 games in goal. Kappel has a 3-11-1 overall record with a 2.12 goals against average and a .733 save percent. She has made 88 saves this season and has two shut-outs. Kappel is ranked second in the Summit Leauge in saves. Lexi Harris has appeared in four games with one start. She is 0-1 this season with a .750 save percentage and 1.70 goals against average.
Scouting the Jaguars
This season IUPUI is 5-9-3 overall and 3-3 in Summit League play. They are 2-7-1 on the road and own a 3-2-2 record at home. IUPUI has scored 20 goals this season and have given up 26.
Tori Minnich and Krissy Kirkhoff give the Jaguars a solid scoring punch by combining for 13 goals. Minnich has seven goals this season, while Kirkhoff has six goals and an assist. Kalli Shepler-Tucker has the team lead with four assists and two goals.
Nicole Kulovitz and Catherine Schmidt have split starts and games this season. Kulovitz is 1-5 this season with a .807 save percentage and a 1.65 goals against average. Schmidt has nine starts with a 4-4-3 overall record. She has a .795 save percentage and a 1.36 goals against average. Kulovitz is second in the Summit League with 11 goals allowed and a .807 save percentage. Schmidt is fifth in the league with 58 saves. She is also in the top five in save percentage and goals against average.
