Mavs Sweep Past Broncos, 7-0

OMAHA, Neb.—The Maverick women's tennis team imposed its will on in-state foe Hastings College Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Broncos, 7-0. With the win, Omaha improves to 3-6 (0-0 Summit League), while the Broncos fall to 1-3 (0-0 GPAC).
Omaha dominated doubles play, winning all three doubles matches 8-0. At No. 1 doubles, Alex Tran and Hylan Miller defeated Hallie Bauer and Elizabeth Harlow. No. 2 doubles saw Tiffany Hottman and Molly Matricardi rout Whitney Bridger and Bailey Christy, while Jaqueline Baude and Kenzie Hill beat Abby Schmitz and Molly Mitchell at No. 3 doubles.
The Mavs carried the momentum from doubles into singles. At No. 1 singles, Tran beat Harlow 6-0, 6-0, while Miller defeated Bridger 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Matricardi beat Bauer 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, and senior Lindsay Weideman took care of business at No. 4 singles, topping Christy 6-1, 6-0. Finishing up the match for the Mavs, Baude defeated Mitchell 6-0, 6-1, while Hill posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Marissa Avalos.
Omaha returns to action on March 21, traveling to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to take on Nova Southeastern at 3:00 p.m.
