Simmons Evaluated in Pre-Draft Workout With Bucks

OMAHA, Neb. -- Former Omaha basketball player Justin Simmons participated in a private NBA pre-draft guards workout for the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, June 4.
Simmons, a product of South Division High School in Milwaukee, worked out in front of Bucks scouting personnel at the team's practice facility. Five other seniors -- Billy Baron (Canisius), Geron Johnson (Memphis), Roy Devyn Marble (Iowa), Jordan McRae (Tennessee) and Kendall Williams (New Mexico) -- also displayed their skills alongside Simmons.
"The workout yesterday went really well, and I met a lot of great people," Simmons said. "I'm grateful for this experience I had at the Bucks facility, and I hope I made a strong impression during the evaluation.”
A 6-3, 190-pound guard, Simmons graduated from UNO with his bachelor's degree in education in May 2014. As a senior in 2013-14, he averaged 10.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Simmons was part of the Maverick squad that played through the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament, which marked Omaha's first Division I postseason appearance.
Simmons earned second-team All-Summit honors as a junior after ranking fourth in the Summit League with 16.7 points per game. That season, he averaged 16.7 points, 4.0 boards, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals per contest.
The 2014 NBA Draft is scheduled for Thursday, June 26 in New York.
