OMAHA, Neb. -- Omaha men's basketball director of operations Tyler Bullock has taken an assistant coaching position at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa, it was announced Tuesday.
At SWCC, Bullock will join former UNO assistant coach Todd Lorensen, who was announced as the school's new head men's basketball coach in July.
"We will miss all the positive things Tyler brought to our staff here at UNO, as he did a tremendous job as our director of operations for the last two seasons," head coach Derrin Hansen said. " During that time, however, he was not able to coach or recruit. This new position at Southwestern Community College will allow Tyler to advance in the coaching profession, which has ultimately been his goal. Tyler was both a standout player and staff member for our program, and we are thrilled for the professional opportunities he has ahead of him."
Bullock, a native of Lincoln, Neb., spent two years as Omaha's director of operations for men's basketball from 2012 to 2014. As a two-year letterwinner for the Mavericks from 2009 to 2011, he was an All-America honorable mention selection, a two-time all-region pick and a two-time All-MIAA honoree. In 2009-10, he led Omaha to a conference championship and an NCAA Division II Tournament appearances.
Over his two seasons at UNO, Bullock averaged 19.1 points, 3.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 3.7 rebounds per game. He capped his career with 1,124 career points, becoming the fastest player in school history to join the 1,000 Point Club.
Following his collegiate playing career, Bullock played professionally with the Moncton Miracles of the National Basketball League of Canada and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Steamers of the Premier Basketball League.
Bullock graduated with his bachelor's degree in business from UNO in May 2011.
