ODGEN, Utah – The Omaha women's soccer team dropped its first game of the season on Friday, losing to Weber State, 3-1.
The Mavericks, who are now 1-1 on the season, conclude their trip to Utah with a game at Utah State on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
The Wildcats opened the scoring in the fifth minute off a corner kick. Brecken Holbrook knocked the ball under the crossbar at 4:38.
Hannah Wampler evened the game for the Mavericks, firing home a corner kick at 44:21 for her first goal of the year.
But just 26 seconds later, Weber State retook the lead when Chansi Crompton's high chip from 35 yards out made it 2-1 at halftime.
Stacy Bair scored in the 59th minute for the Wildcats for the final score.
The Mavericks were outshot 25-8 and 10-4 in shots on goal. Katlyn Schochenmaier made seven saves.
