Omaha Drops League Opener to NDSU on Friday Night, 1-0

FARGO, North Dakota – Despite putting up 11 shots, the Omaha women's soccer team fell to league rival North Dakota State on Friday evening at Dacotah Field in Fargo, 1-0.
The Mavericks are now 3-6-1 overall and 0-1-0 in Summit League play, while North Dakota State improved to 6-5-0 overall and 1-0-0 in league play.
The Bison got on the board first in the 60th minute when Lauren Miller tallied her eighth goal of the season, pushing a shot past Omaha goalkeeper Katlyn Schochenmaier to the lower left corner. The assist was credited to Brittany Mueller on the play.
Schochenmaier was tagged with the loss despite making six saves and disrupting several other Bison through balls. NDSU's Sierra Bonham earned the win with a six-save effort in goal.
Courtney Neville, Lydia Holtmann, and Kyla Booker each had shots on goal in the final six minutes of the game, but NDSU was able to keep Omaha from leveling the score.
NDSU outshot Omaha by a 17-11 margin and a 7-5 margin in shots on goal. For the Mavericks, Hannah Wampler had a team high three shots (one on goal), while Holtmann had two shots (one on goal). Lauren Miller had a game-high five shots (two on goal) and Hanna Norman added four shots (three on goal) for the Bison.
Omaha returns to action at Fishback Stadium in Brookings, South Dakota for a Summit League match against South Dakota State on Sunday, Oct. 4. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
