Hansen Signs Robinson to NLI for 2016-17

OMAHA, Neb. – Point guard KJ Robinson has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Omaha men's basketball program in 2016-17, head coach Derrin Hansen announced Wednesday.
Robinson, a 5-10, 160-pound guard from Blue Springs, Mo., carries a three-star rating from Rivals. He plays for Coach Jimmy Cain at Blue Springs South High School and helped the Jaguars win their first state title with a record of 29-2 in 2015. After averaging 17 points per game as a junior, Robinson was honored as first-team all-conference, all-area and all-district and was named to the Kansas City all-metro team.
As a sophomore, Robinson was a first-team all-conference, all-area and all-district pick. He was part of Blue Springs South's KC Suburban Big 6 Conference championship teams in 2013 and 2014 and also helped his squad win a Class 5 district title in 2013. Additionally, Robinson has played AAU ball for Team YOBO, coached by former Oklahoma State standout Victor Williams.
Robinson selected Omaha over South Dakota State, UMKC and Miami (Ohio).
"We're excited that KJ will join us next year,” Hansen said. “He's had an outstanding prep career to this point, including winning the state championship in Missouri last season. KJ will join six other players on our current team who have played in state championship games, and that's a testament to our staff recruiting kids from top programs.
“KJ has seen a lot of development under Coach Cain at Blue Springs South, as well as Coach Williams of Team YOBO. He's a point guard who can really handle the ball and find open teammates. He also understands how to play off the ball screen, and he shoots the ball well. KJ fits what we do, and we think he'll have the opportunity to play right away here. He's a great young man from a great family, and we're excited about his future.”
