Mavs Open Florida Trip, Fall to Nova Southeastern

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Omaha women's tennis opened its spring break trip against Nova Southeastern on Tuesday, falling 8-1 at NSU Tennis Center. The Mavericks move to 4-9 (2-2 Summit League), while the Sharks improve to 14-0 (4-0 Sunshine State Conference).
The Sharks opened the day taking two out three doubles matches from the Mavs for the doubles point. Omaha's lone victory came at No. 1, where freshman Michelle Lo and senior Jacqueline Baude were victorious 8-6 over Petra Jurova and Irina Costantinide. The doubles duo of sophomore Kenzie Hill and junior Molly Matricardi were defeated 8-5 at No. 2, while sophomores Allison Johnson and Maddie Holscher fell at No. 3, 8-0.
Nova Southeastern continued its success in singles play. Lo put up a valiant effort at No. 1, but Sabrina Kierberg took the win, 6-2, 6-3 to spark the Sharks, who picked up the next five wins to seal the match victory, 8-1.
Omaha returns to action on Wednesday, March 25, facing Florida International. The match is slated for a Noon start time in Miami, Fla.
