KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Abby Meader converted a second half penalty kick for the only score of the game as Omaha went on the road and defeated UMKC 1-0 on Sunday.

The Mavericks improve to 2-4-1 (0-0-0 Summit League), while the Kangaroos fall to 2-5-1 (0-0-0 WAC).

The two squads limited chances in the first half as the defense answered each challenge put forth by the opposing offense. Omaha goalkeeper Erin Bunker collected three saves in the first half to keep the Kangaroos off the board, while the Mavericks put one shot on frame.

The Kangaroos got a great chance in the 69th minute as Lilly Cobb got a shot on goal, but Bunker made the save.

Omaha broke through in the 83rd minute as Meader was taken down in the box setting up a penalty kick for the Mavericks. She converted the kick to give Omaha the one-goal lead.

The Maverick defense held the Kangaroos without a shot for the final seven minutes to preserve the win.

"It was a total team effort today. We used every field player who traveled. Sunday afternoon games are always hard, but we were committed to outworking UMKC over 90 minutes today. I am incredibly proud of our commitment and resilience on a hot, humid day."

Walters on his team's confidence levels after the weekend.
"Wins are nice, but I think the most important thing is the team never lost faith when things weren't going our way the first three weekends. Belief and confidence are huge in soccer, and obviously, we have an abundance of it after this weekend."
