SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Omaha women's golf team shot the lowest team round in their Division I history on the first day of play at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial at Missouri State.
The Mavericks shot 305 in the first round at the Twin Oaks Country Club and followed with a score of 316 for a 36-hole total of 621 on the first day of play. They're in 12th place overall in the field of 15 teams.
Memphis leads the tournament with a score of 580. Murray State is second at 595, and UTEP is third at 600.
Jordan York posted scores of 75 and 79 for a total of 154 that leads the Mavericks and puts her in a tie for 37th. She's two strokes ahead of teammate Hannah Hunke. The freshman carded rounds of 77 and 78 for a total of 155 that puts her in a tie for 46th place.
Sami Langford went 77 and 79 over the first 36 holes to put her at 156, good for a tie for 50th. Megan Vetrovsky is tied for 61st after shooting 79 and 80 for a total of 159.
Samantha Chong rounded out the scoring for UNO with a score of 162 that included rounds of 76 and 86.
Mandy Boyle, playing as an individual, shot scores of 80 and 76 for a total of 156 to put her in a tie for 50th.
The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
