Mavericks Take Fifth at UNO Invitational

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – The Omaha women's golf team took fifth place at the UNO Invitational on Saturday, its first event of the season.
The Mavericks shot a team score of 312 in the final round to finish at 943 for the 54-hole tournament. North Dakota State won the event with a score of 892. Nebraska was second at 899, and South Dakota finished third at 919.
Samantha Chong paced the Mavericks on day two with a three-over score of 75, tying a career best. She finished at 243 for the tournament, fourth for UNO and 40th overall.
Megan Vetrovsky led the Mavericks in scoring with a 54-hole total of 228. She closed with a round of 80 and finished eighth overall.
Jordan York was second on the team and 28th overall with a total score of 237 that featured a final round of 80.
Freshman Hannah Hunke shot a tournament-low round of 77 on Saturday to post a total of 241, good for a tie for 36th in the 55-player field. Mandy Boyle concluded the scoring for UNO with a total of 248 that included a final round of 83.
Sami Langford, playing as an individual, shot 78 in round three for a total of 236 that had her in a tie for 24th. Haley Wineman carded a final round of 89 and finished 261 for the tournament.
The Mavericks are back in action on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 11-12, at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial hosted by Missouri State.
