Mavericks Move Up To Eighth-Place Finish at UMKC

RAYMORE, Mo. – The Omaha women's golf team shot its best team round of the season and moved up two spots to take eighth place at the Kansas City Intercollegiate.
The Mavericks shot a team score of 303 in the final round at the Creekmoor Golf Club to close the weather-shortened 36-hole tournament at 646. North Dakota State won the event with a total score of 595. IUPUI took second at 604, three strokes ahead of South Dakota State in third.
Senior Megan Vetrovsky led the team in scoring with a round of 74 on Tuesday, a 10-stroke improvement from her opening-round score. She finished at 158 for the event, good for a tie for 24th place.
Samantha Chong fired UNO's best round of the tournament on Tuesday, an even-par card of 72, to finish second on the team and in a tie for 34th overall at 161.
Sami Langford was third for UNO and tied for 42nd overall with a score of 165 that included a final round card of 79. She finished two strokes ahead of Jordan York who shot 78 in the final round and posted a total of 167. That put her in a tie for 46th overall.
Mandy Boyle closed the team scoring for UNO with a final round of 85 that put her at 169 for the tournament.
Hannah Hunke, playing as an individual, shot a final round tally of 81 and finished at 165, good for a tie with Langford for 42nd.
The Mavericks are now off for almost two weeks when they begin the Summit League Championship at ArborLinks in Nebraska City on April 22-24.
