Mavericks Open Season with UNO Invitational

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's golf team begins its fall season by hosting the UNO Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 31-Sept. 1 at ArborLinks in Nebraska City.
The Mavericks will welcome eight teams for 36 holes on Friday and 18 on Saturday. Play begins on the first and 10th tees each day at 8 a.m.
Omaha finished fifth out of eight teams in their own tournament last season with a 54-hole team score of 943. Graduated senior Megan Vetrovsky led the Mavericks with a score of 228, good for eighth place overall.
Vetrovsky is the Mavericks' only loss from last year's team that finished seventh in the Summit League Championships. Senior Jordan York is the team's leading returning scorer. She posted a stroke average of 80.5 while playing in all 28 rounds last year. Â
Senior Mandy Boyle (81.5 stroke average) along with junior Sami Langford (81.8) also played in all 28 rounds while sophomore Hannah Hunke (83.4) appeared in 25. Junior Samantha Chong posted an 81.1 stroke average in 19 rounds last season.
The Mavericks added two true freshmen to their roster this year. Zora Gittens was a four-year letter winner and three-year captain at Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton, Fla. Cassidy Ulrich is a native of Hartington, Neb. who was a four-year letter winner and a two-time district champion at Cedar Catholic High School.
Following play at ArborLinks, the Mavericks will take part in the MSU/Payne Stewart Classic at Missouri State on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 10-11.
