VERMILLION, S.D. – Despite a scoreless first half, Omaha and South Dakota combined for six goals in the second half as the Maverick women's soccer team fell 4-2 on Thursday afternoon to the Coyotes in Vermillion, S.D.

The setback moves the Mavericks to 5-10-1 (2-4-0) while the Coyotes improve to 7-9-0 (2-3-0).

How It Happened

The Mavericks attempted the first shot of the match in the first minute when Andrea Daves' shot sailed high over the net.
Sophia Roux nearly broke the scoreless tie in the 38^th minute when her attempt banked off the crossbar.
South Dakota scored the first goal of the match in the 47^th minute when Alexis Mitchell found the back of the net after collecting at loose ball on the corner kick.
The Coyotes doubled the lead in the 51^st minute on a goal by Kellee Willer.
Bailey Cascio intercepted an attempt by the USD defense to clear the ball out and snuck the ball inside the left post from the top of the box in the 63^rd minute to trim the deficit in half.
USD responded in the 64^th minute on a goal off the corner kick as Willer netted her second goal of the match.
South Dakota extended its lead to 4-1 in the 79^th minute on an own goal by the Maverick defense.
Lexi Kajdasz scored her first career goal of the season in the 89^th minute off an assist by Margaret LaVigne.
