Mavericks Eighth After Day One at UTRGV

McALLEN, Texas – The Omaha women's golf team sits in eighth place after the first two rounds of the UT Rio Grande Valley Invitational on Monday.
The Mavericks shot team scores of 325 and 312 for a total of 637 over the first 36-holes at the McAllen Country Club. Sam Houston State leads after day one with a score of 590. Texas State is second at 596, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi is third at 608.
Freshman Zora Gittens led the Mavericks in scoring on day one with rounds of 80 and 76 for a total of 156. She's tied for 22nd in the field of 80 golfers from 15 teams.
Senior Jordan York is second on the team and tied for 31st overall with a score of 160. She fired rounds of 83 and 77. She's one stroke ahead of teammates Samantha Chong and Mandy Boyle who finished the first 36 holes with matching scores of 161, good for a tie for 38th. Chong had cards of 83 and 78, and Boyle shot rounds of 79 and 82.
Sami Langford is fifth for UNO and tied for 56th overall with a score of 165 that featured rounds of 84 and 81.
Hannah Hunke, playing as an individual, is tied for 61st with a score of 166. She shot 82 in the first round and 84 in the second.
The final round begins Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
