Mavericks Release 2019 Schedule
Jun 6, 2019 | Women's Soccer
OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha women's soccer head coach Tim Walters announced the 2019 schedule on Thursday. The Mavericks' upcoming season includes 10 home contests.
"We have put together a very challenging non-conference schedule to help prepare us for the Summit League season," said Walters. "I am a believer in playing tough opponents early to learn about your strengths and weaknesses, and I think opening up preseason at Nebraska and Kansas will help us learn a lot during that time."
The Mavericks will face some of their toughest competition in program history with three matches against 2018 NCAA Tournament teams – Kansas, Memphis and Denver. Six of Omaha's opponents finished in the top 100 of the 2018 NCAA RPI including Memphis (15), KU (20), Oklahoma State (51), Nebraska (60), Ball State (73) and DU (89).
Omaha is coming off its first Summit League Tournament Championship berth in 2018. The Mavericks finished 8-11-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the Summit, good for fourth place. They upset No. 1 seed South Dakota State, 3-1, in the semifinals before falling to No. 2 Denver in the Summit Championship.
Omaha opens with road exhibition games against Nebraska and Kansas. The Mavericks' first home game is Friday, Aug. 23 against Illinois State.
The Mavericks' other home matches include Kansas State (Aug. 25), Memphis (Sept. 1), Ball State (Sept. 6), Missouri State (Sept. 21), Grand Canyon (Sept. 27), North Dakota State (Oct. 11), South Dakota State (Oct. 13), Denver (Oct. 17) and Oral Roberts (Oct. 20).
The Summit League Championship will be held on Nov. 7-9 in Brookings, S.D.
The Mavericks return two of their three top scorers from last season including forward Bailey Cascio (7-3-17) and midfielder Andrea Daves (1-6-8).
