WATERLOO, Iowa – Closing in on the final three minutes of the second overtime period, Jaden Thiem wrapped a corner kick into the back of the net to give Omaha a 2-1 victory over UNI on Friday night in Waterloo, Iowa.

Omaha improves to 1-1-1 on the season while the Panthers fall to 1-2 on the year.

How It Happened

The Panthers started quick as Omaha goalkeeper Kelly Lemke recorded three saves in the first 10 minutes of the match.
UNI opened the scoring in the 24^th minute when Madalyn Germann's shot ricocheted off the crossbar and bounced behind the goal line to give the Panthers a 1-0 advantage.
Omaha's first threat came in the 43^rd minute when Laurin Mertz fired a shot towards the goal that resulted in a UNI save after breaking free on the right side.
The Mavericks tied the match at one when a header from Regan Zimmers off the cross from Kaitlyn Guhl found the back of the net in the 54^th minute.
The Panthers hit the crossbar in the 76^th minute and had a rebound shot hit the right post seconds after that would have given UNI their second goal of the match.
Amanda Rapaduski sent a ball forward to an attacking Tabitha Allberg that would have won the match in the 99^th minute, but Allberg's attempt chipped just right of the open net.
Facing their second tie in as many matches, the Mavericks continued to press as Omaha didn't allow the UNI offense to get off a single shot in the second period of overtime.
In the 107^th minute, Thiem launched a corner kick that wrapped around the traffic in the box and bounced its way into the back of the net to score her first collegiate goal.

The Panthers posted a 16-11 advantage in shots while the Mavericks clipped UNI 4-3 in corner kicks.
The goals by Thiem and Zimmers marked the first collegiate goals in their respective careers.
Zimmers paced the UNO attack with three shots, all on goal, while Sophia Roux followed with two attempts on target.
Lemke picked up her first collegiate victory while garnering a career-high eight saves in the match.
