Mavericks Begin Team Play at Loyola

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's golf team begins its 2019-20 season at the Loyola Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 16-17.
The tournament features 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday from the Flossmoor Country Club in Flossmoor, Ill. Play begins each day at 9 a.m.
This will be the first team tournament for the Mavericks who were rained out after the first nine holes of a match play event at North Dakota State on Sept. 9.
Omaha returns four players who saw significant playing time last season when the team finished eighth at the Summit League Championship. Sophomore Zora Gittens is UNO's leading returning scorer after posting a stroke average of 80.3 that put her second on the team.
Samantha Chong ranked fourth in team scoring with a stroke average of 81.2 in 2018-19, and Hannah Hunke was fifth at 82.6.
The Mavericks welcome three true freshmen this fall including local product Izzi Puk (Millard West). Illinois native Mandi Granato and Maddy Boudreau (Havey, La.) also join the team this season.
Following play at Loyola, the Mavericks will return to action at the Spirit Hollow Invitational at Northern Iowa on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 23-24.
