Mavericks Third After Day One at Iowa Western

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The Omaha women's golf team is in third place after the first round of the Bent Tree Intercollegiate hosted by Iowa Western on Monday. It is their first tournament of the season.

The Mavericks shot a team score of 324 over the first 18 holes at windy Bent Tree Golf Course. That puts them three strokes behind Iowa Western and Morningside who are tied for first.

Hannah Hunke and Zora Gittens led the Mavericks in scoring with matching rounds of 80 which put them in a tie with one other golfer for sixth place in the field of 34 golfers.

Freshman Jinna Boonbumroongsuk is third on the team and tied for ninth overall with a score of 81. Freshman Mika Miyata along with sophomores Mandi Granato and Izzi Puk are all tied for 11th after shooting rounds of 83.

Freshman Brynn Sundquist shot 86 to put her in a tie for 16th, and junior Cassidy Ulrich posted a card of 95 to put her 24th.

The final round will be played Tuesday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
