COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The Omaha women's golf team opened the fall with a second-place finish at the Bent Tree Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

The Mavericks shot a team score of 308 on the second day of the 36-hole tournament, a 16-stroke improvement from round one, to finish at 632. Morningside won the event with a score of 628 while host Iowa Western took third at 636.

Mandi Granato shot a team-low round of 74 to close with a total score of 157. That put her in a tie with teammate Hannah Hunke for sixth overall in the field of 34 golfers. Hunke posted a round of 77 on day two.

Freshman Jinna Boonbumroongsuk was two strokes back at 159, good for eighth place. She shot 78 in the final round.

Zora Gittens was fourth on the team and 11th overall with a total score of 163. She closed the tournament with a round of 83. Brynn Sundquist wrapped up the team scoring by shooting 79 for a total score of 165.

A trio of Mavericks played as individuals in the tournament. Izzi Puk shot a total of 167 that included a final round of 84. Mika Miyata closed with a card of 88 for a score of 171, and Cassidy Ulrich shot 86 on the final day for a score of 181.

The Mavericks return to action at their own Maverick Invitational at The Creek on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 12-13, at The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn.
