Women's Tennis to Make Season Debut at Drake Invitational

The Mavericks women's tennis team is set to make their 2022-23 season debut at the Drake Invitational this weekend. Omaha will compete in the three day singles tournament starting tomorrow in Des Moines, Iowa.
"We are really excited to finally get going," said Omaha head coach Adam Summit. "We have a great team this year, and one that has the most talent. It will be a great test for us to see how we compete with teams from our region, and measure up with teams from the Summit League. The fall tournaments will give each player a chance to play in numerous matches in a short time. It will be a great chance to watch them compete."
Last season, the Mavericks finished 12-11. They'll look to improve on that this campaign with their squad of 10. Of those 10 is graduate-student Ines Absisan. The Brussels, Belgium native has 20 career singles wins and is coming off of her most successful singles season with eight victories.
Omaha added three new rackets to the roster this season in a freshmen Zoe Adkins and Summer Shannon along with a graduate transfer from the University of Nebraska.
"We have a great group of ladies for this years team and a veteran returning core with some valuable experience.," Summit said. "We also added 3 exciting new players to the fold, including graduate transfer from Nebraska, Jessica Aragon. From top to bottom every player can play in the lineup and contribute. I am looking forward to this weekend and rest of the Fall campaign."
