Sugar Land, Texas—The Omaha men's golf team heads to Sugar Land for the Colin Montgomerie Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Mar. 6-7.
Format
The Colin Montgomerie Invitational, hosted by Houston Christian, is a two-day, 54-hole event. The first two rounds will be played on Monday, with the final round on Tuesday. Both days begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 A.M.
Field
Fifteen teams join the Mavericks for the Colin Montgomerie Invitational, including Texas A&M-Commerce, Incarnate Word, Weber State, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, Stephen F. Austin, North Dakota, Houston, Tarleton State, Missouri State, Nichols, Texas Rio Grande Valley, and two Houston Christian teams.
Lineup
The same five Mavericks are in the lineup after a third-place finish at the Carpenter Chaney Classic last time out.
Mathew Halvorson heads to his 26th-straight tournament, a streak that dates to the 2020-21 season. The graduate student has led the Mavericks in seven of those events and recorded eight top-20 finishes over 83 rounds.
Connor Wilson enters this tournament fresh off his first Summit League Peak Golfer of the Week honors. Wilson led the Mavericks in their first event of the season, going 2-1 in matches over the weekend with 12 birdies over 54 holes.
Nolan Johnson continues an impressive freshman campaign. Johnson used a 73 (+1) to secure a tie in the final match of the Carpenter Chaney Classic and birdied 10 holes throughout the event.
Josh Peters returns to the lineup for his second event of the season. The senior earned a dominant victory over Eastern Kentucky's M. Dao in Florida. Peters was up six with five holes to play and helped the Mavericks to a 4-2 victory over the Colonels.
Kurtis Rodriguez has been a consistent contributor for the Mavericks all season. Through five events in the fall, Rodriguez posted 54-hole scores of 223, 213, 220, 223, and 223. The sophomore earned a victory at the Carpenter Chaney Classic, finishing one-up on Eastern Kentucky's F. Guarneri.
