Men's Tennis Picked to Finish 3rd in Summit League Preseason Poll

The Omaha Mavericks Men's Tennis squad has been selected to finish third, with one first place vote, in this season's 2024 Summit League Men's Tennis Preseason Poll. Junior racket Quintan Van Wijk was named a Preseason Player to Watch for the upcoming campaign. The full poll can be seen below.
Omaha was picked fourth last season and finished fourth with a 2-3 record in conference play. They fell to Denver 3-4 in the opening round of the Summit League Tournament.
"Grateful to be picked to finish third this year in this tough conference, but obviously we have higher goals than that and will be working towards those all season," head coach Matt Barlow said."
The Mavericks Preseason Player to Watch, Quintan Van Wijk is coming off a great season for Omaha. The Willemstad, Curacao native went 17-4 in singles last season and compiled an 11-5 ledger during the fall of 2023, including a win against off #116 ranked Graydon Lair from Michigan State. Van Wijk Compiled a 3-2 record in singles play during league play and 12-11 overall in doubles play.
"Quintan has really come into his own on and off the court at Omaha and is playing confident and at a really high level right now," Barlow said. "After a super solid spring and fall 2023 he is definitely deserving of player to watch. I'm happy for him to get the mention and looking forward to another successful season for him."
The Mavericks open up their 2024 campaign on the road this weekend with a pair of matches. Their season debut will be against Oklahoma State and then they meet the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley the following day.
