Naig Nabs NCC Wrestler of the Week Recognition
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- For the fifth time this season, 174-pound J.D. Naig has been named the North Central Conference wrestler of the week for his performance in the Mavericks' dual victory last week over NCC rival Augustana.
Naig, a senior from Emmetsburg, Iowa, improved to 35-7 on the season with a 4-1 win over Cody Henriksen of Augustana, the fifth-ranked wrestler in NCAA Division II competition. The win was part of a dual in which the Mavericks defeated Augustana, 30-7, to finish second in the NCC regular-season standings. Henriksen was the last NCAA Division II wrestler to defeat Naig, a victory occured during a 2004 regular-season dual between the schools.
