Was named the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s top defenseman in 2001-2002 while playing for the St. Albert Saints under coach Gord Thibodeau...Recorded nine goals and 19 assists while being named an AJHL first team all-star and a Viking Cup first team all-star.

The son of Roger and Janice Andresen...Born April 11, 1983...As an honor student at St. Albert Catholic High School, Joel was voted most likely to succeed in his graduating class...Hobbies are working out, video games and golf...Majoring in exercise science...Came to UNO because of the great atmosphere at the Civic Auditorium and the fan support...Was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL in the fifth round of the 2002 entry draft this past June.

“Comes to us after experiencing a season as the Most Valuable Defenseman in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. A big, physical force, we expect him to make it very difficult for opposing forwards to have success in our defensive zone."
