
North Dakota Hands UNO Fifth Straight Loss

Grand Forks, N.D. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha lost its fifth straight match, dropping to 0-4 in the North Central Conference, as North Dakota defeated the Mavericks, 3-1 (30-21, 30-25, 20-30, 30-24) before 153 at the Hyslop Sports Center, Saturday night, Oct. 4, in Grand Forks. Nebraska-Omaha dropped to 9-11 overall on the season, while the Sioux improved to 11-6 overall and 3-2 in the NCC.
Sophomore middle blocker Ashley Freeman (Council Bluffs, IA) led the Mavericks with a season-high 12 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Jenny Rankin (North Platte, NE) recorded her second-straight double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. Junior libero Teresa Stevens (Sioux City, IA) led the defensive effort with 13 digs, to go along with two service aces.
One bright spot for the Mavericks was at the service line, where UNO recorded 11 service aces, compared to five for the Sioux. North Dakota, however, outhit UNO .248 to .140 as the Mavericks committed 25 hitting errors.
The Mavericks return home to the Sapp Fieldhouse where they will take on 15th-ranked Augustana at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, and South Dakota State at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11.
