Mavs Hit Road For Weekend Tournament

No. 2 UNO will travel to Warrensburg, Mo. this weekend to face Truman State and host Central Missouri State in the CMSU Classic. Saturday the Mavs will face 13th-ranked Truman at 11 a.m., then Sunday, the Jennies will host UNO at 2 p.m. The Mavs opened the regular season last weekend with shutouts over Minnesota-Duluth and Wayne State to start at 2-0.
About the Bulldogs and Jennies
Truman opened it's season with a 2-0 win over South Dakota State last Saturday. Sunday, a key matchup with North Dakota was postponed due to weather and a make-up date will be determined. The Bulldogs finished 16-3-2 last year and won the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association with an 11-0-1 record. Two of their losses came in 3-0 shutouts from the Mavericks, including a season-ending defeat in the NCAA tournament's second round. The Mavs have a 4-1 advantage in the overall series record
First-team all-region juniors Sara Murray and Anna Sonderman return, along with four other all-MIAA picks. Murray and Sonderman finished first and second, respectively, in team scoring last year.
Central Missouri State went 12-8 (8-4 MIAA) last year and finished with wins in five of six games to end second in the conference. Former Missouri Southern coach Geoff VanDeusen took over the team this year and fell 3-0 to North Dakota State in the opener. The Jennies also had their second game rained out- a Sunday game with Southwest State in Kansas City, Mo. They will play Minnesota State, Mankato, the fourth team in the tournament, Saturday after the Mavs play Truman. UNO beat CMSU 1-0 early last year to improve to 4-0 in the overall series record.
