Mavericks Host Final Regular Season Home Match

OMAHA, Neb.-- No. 11 UNO is set to host its final regular season home match this Saturday Oct. 23 at the soccer field at Ak-Sar-Ben, game time set for 1 p.m. Following a 2-0 week with wins over Minnesota State and South Dakota, UNO has clinched home-field advantage and will host the North Central Conference Final Four set for November 5th and 6th.
Klosterman at 99 Wins
Head Coach Don Klosterman is currently sitting at 99 wins in his 6-year career as the Mavs coach. With a 99-22-3 overall record, Klosterman has led the team to three NCC titles and two trips to the NCAA tournament, finishing second and third nationally. Last season, Klosterman earned his 75th victory midway through the season.

UNO holds a 5-2 career record versus the Fighting Sioux, but has two losses to avenge this weekend that came at the hands of ND last season. One of the losses suffered came in the conference tournament semifinals, where ND defeated UNO 2-1 in overtime.
Mavs Stay at #11
Despite finishing the week 2-0, UNO remained at the No. 11 spot in the NSCAA/adidas national ranking. Four teams the Mavs have played this year are ranked. Metro State and Truman State, UNO's only losses, are No. 2 and No.4 respectively. Regis, a team the Mavs defeated early in the season, holds the No. 10 spot. Southwest Baptist is listed at the No. 19 position, moving from 22 last week.
Pile Honored
Junior defender Meghan Pile, from Columbus, Neb., was named the NCC Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in last weeks games. Offensively, Pile scored two goals and added an assist as the Mavs outscored its opponents 6-1. She also led the defense that allowed one goal and 20 shots against Minnesota State and South Dakota.
About the Fighting Sioux
North Dakota enters this Saturday's match with a 10-3-2, 2-1-1 NCC record. Seven of the 10 victories have been shutouts, including their most recent victory, a 3-0 win over Augustana Sunday (Oct 17). The Fighting Sioux are a second-half team, scoring 24 of their 33 total goals in the second period.
The Sioux are led offensively by senior forward Stephanie Pfeiffer who has ripped through opposing defenses scoring 18 goals, including eight game-winners, and adding five assists. Scoring more than half of the teams' goals, Pfeiffer is the main offensive producer for ND, with the closest teammate scoring only seven.
Goalie Eve Compton has only allowed 12 goals on the season, giving her a 0.84 goals against average. Compton will be busy this weekend versus UNO as three of the Mavs are in double-digits in goals scored.

UNO extended its unbeaten streak to 13 after a 2-0 win at South Dakota Sunday and a 4-1 win over Mankato. UNO used two quick second-half goals versus South Dakota to knock off NCC previously unbeaten Coyotes. At the 79:16 mark, freshman Brandie Beale scored her 10th goal of the season on assists from Brytten Kraft and Beth McGill. McGill then scored her team-leading 16th goal of the year just under two minutes later netting the goal off a free kick. Maverick goalie Amy Price played all 90 minutes between the pipes making two key saves giving the Mavs its 6th shutout of the season. SD goalkeeper Candice Martinez stopped two of four shots on goal in taking the loss. On Saturday, UNO came back from an early deficit after Mankato scored at the 16:59 minute; the first time all season UNO found themselves down in a victory. The 1-0 MSU lead did not last long as Brandie Beale scored at the 21:04 minute mark tying the game 1-1. The score remained at 1's until the 52nd minute when Anne Willrett scored her 13th goal of the season giving UNO the 2-1 lead. Less than five minutes later, defender Meghan Pile headed in a corner kick from Beth McGill to run the score to 3-1. Pile added another goal at the 60:45 mark taking quick passes from Brandie Beal and Amber Richardson in for the score. Junior Amy Price played all 90 minutes only allowing one goal and making four saves.
