Volleyball Looks To Continue Winning Streak

The University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team (11-4/4-0 NCC) will look to extend its seven-match winning streak this week when the Mavericks hit the road for two matches. UNO will travel to Maryville, Mo. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, for a 7 p.m. non-conference match with Northwest Missouri State (9-11). The Mavericks will then resume league play when they head to Vermillion, S.D. on Saturday, Oct. 8, for a 8 p.m. battle with South Dakota (5-12/0-3 NCC).

Northwest Missouri State is currently 9-11 on the season and 2-6 in the MIAA. After going winless in their first six conference matches, the Bearcats picked up two home wins last weekend, defeating Southwest Baptist (3-0) and Missouri Southern (3-2). NWMSU is led by junior outside hitter Sarah Trowbridge, who is averaging 3.89 kills and 2.74 digs per game. Sophomore middle blocker Lauren Cummings is averaging a team second-best 2.59 kills and 0.74 blocks per game. UNO has won the last 13 meetings between the two teams.

South Dakota is 5-12 on the season and 0-3 in the NCC. After starting the year 3-1, the Coyotes have lost 9 out of their last 11 matches, including their last seven.
