South Dakota Snaps UNO Volleyball Win Streak

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The South Dakota volleyball team picked up its first conference victory of the season and ended the Mavericks eight-match win streak with a 3-1 (31-29, 30-25, 16-30, 30-24) victory Saturday evening. It marked the third-straight victory for South Dakota over UNO. With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in the NCC. South Dakota improves to 6-12 and 1-3 in the NCC.
Senior outside hitter Ashley Freeman led UNO with 18 kills and three digs. Junior outside Christina Reicks recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 16 digs. Senior rightside hitter Heather Hainline added 12 kills. Junior Stacie Wemhoff led the Mavericks defensively with a career-high 19 digs.
The Mavericks hit just .162 in the match, committing 33 attack errors. Nebraska-Omaha was also plagued by 17 service errors.
UNO will return home on Tuesday, Oct. 11, when they host Wayne State in a non-conference match beginning at 7 p.m. at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
